Lyophilic dryer principle of action:
Advantages of lyophilic drying:
- Product is not affected by high temperatures;
- Produced preparations may be stored for a long time;
- Preparations preserve structural integrity and biological activity;

Lyophilizing principle is based on drying of specimens in frozen state under vacuum so that water is removed from frozen preparations by sublimation – conversion to vapor omitting liquid phase. Water vapor is pumped out of the working camera with vacuum pumps and condenses on low-temperature condenser coils.
Lyophilizing process may be conveniently divided into two phases:
- Putting the product in vials (ampoules) or trays on working camera shelves with subsequent deep freezing of product to -40°С – -50°С. First phase of lyophilizing process is critically important as the faster the temperature reaches the set value, the smaller is the volume of produced ice crystals so they faster evaporate at drying step.
- Ice evaporation from the frozen solution and its sedimentation in condenser. High vacuum is created in the whole system (working camera and condenser) to provide this process. Vapor is transferred to condenser coil by the difference in partial pressures of water vapor.

Features of QUARCO PHARM & MEDICAL EQUIPMENT lyophilic dryers:
- Well-designed arrangement of all components and units enabling us to make dryers compact and easy to maintain;
- Product contacting surfaces are made of stainless steel AISI316L;
- Roughness of working camera and condenser inner surfaces is 0.4 μm, smooth polishing;
- Roughness of shelves is 0.4 μm, matted polishing;
- All welding is made in nitrogen flow with further passivation and thorough polishing of welding joints;
- Minimal distance between working camera and condenser in combination with the maximal diameter of the main valve enable altering the path of ice vapor from the product to condenser coil. It shortens ice vapor transfer time from the working camera to condenser coil thus accelerating sublimation and decreasing the drying time;
- Effective heat isolation of working camera and condenser enables reduced intensity of compressor work and prevents condensation on the outer surface of equipment;
- Dryer plan can be made to develop the regimen for product drying;
- Design of dryer shelves provide even distribution of temperature over the entire shelf surface;
- Compressors Bitzer in combination with valves and relays Danfoss result in high robustness of Freon circuits;
